Gusto Character Set

About

Gusto comes in three related variants that go from hotdog to melted chocolate, a gastronomic combination not to be passed up (or thrown up).

It is heavily influenced by Alan Meeks’ 1979 Frankfurter for Letraset, and its shiny pop art contemporaries.

At age fifteen, Hughes posted his early typeface designs to Letraset. Alan Meeks wrote back, and kindly invited him to visit the Letraset drawing studio. It was an inspiration and a revelation: Hughes saw Rubylith masters being cut, and used this method himself for early logo and type designs such as Crash Bang Wallop, later digitised and released as part of FontShop’s FontFont range.
