Rian interviewed on Valiant Comics' new logo design
"The visuals for the Valiant project draw on the 23-year history of the brand and franchises while refining some of them to better work in a 21st century marketplace. We recently had a chance to discuss the new Valiant look with Hughes, who discussed the challenges of rebranding a comics universe as well as his own philosophy on comic book design."

Filmotype Power and Filmotype Major join Filmotype Modern
The ongoing project to digitise Filmotype's classic library of mid-century American type styles continues. "Major" can be found on Dr. Seuss' "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", and Power on "With the Beatles". Hughes used "Modern" on Knockabout's book cover designs in the 90's, and relished the opportunity to create careful and accurate Opentype digitisations of the family. Produced from the original film negatives, they have been expanded to include numerous alternate forms, ligatures, and international character sets.
